STATEMENT FROM MAYOR LARRY DAGEN
Re: State of Emergency | January 26, 2026
Last night, I declared a State of Emergency for the City of Millington in response to the January 2026 winter storm. The declaration is retroactive to January 24, 2026, and remains in effect through at least January 31, 2026.
Residents should not be alarmed by this declaration. It is a practical step to ensure the City remains prepared if additional issues arise and to help position Millington for potential federal reimbursement of costs already incurred as part of our response.
I fully support every city department in taking whatever steps are necessary to protect our community. Our teams are working across the city, responding where help is needed most, and coordinating closely with our county and state partners to keep essential services operating.
City of Millington team members have worked overtime to treat and clear roads and to respond to residents in need. They are making exceptional efforts, and I am incredibly proud of them.
Millington is prepared. I want to thank our Public Works, Fire, Police, and other first responders, along with our county and state partners, who have gone above and beyond to keep our community safe.
I am asking residents to stay home and off the roads whenever possible.
Please give our crews the time and space they need to do their work safely. Road conditions remain hazardous, and this is not the time to test them.
As a small business owner, I understand how hard weather events like this can be on our local businesses and their employees. Stay home, stay safe, and when the time allows, give thought to supporting local businesses.
Now is a good time to rest, stay in, and catch up on your favorite shows. Some of our talented younger team members recommend K-Pop Demon Hunters. I’m not entirely sure what it’s about, but I’ll take their word for it.
