CITY HALL AND ADMIN OFFICES REMAIN CLOSED

Millington News Posted on January 26, 2026

Millington City Hall and administrative offices will remain closed Tuesday due to hazardous road conditions.

🗑️ Trash pickup is also canceled for the same reason. Service will resume once conditions are safe for employees and equipment, with updates shared here and on our social media accounts.

While most of the winter weather has passed, roads across Millington remain dangerous. Our Public Works teams have been working overtime since the start of this event, alongside Shelby County Government and TDOT, to plow and treat priority routes and maintain access for emergency vehicles. Despite their hard work, continued cold temperatures and refreezing mean conditions vary widely by location, and in some areas it may look like roads haven’t been treated even when they have.

TDOT, the State of Tennessee, is responsible for state routes and is managing many Priority 1 roads across Shelby County with limited resources. To help fill gaps, City crews have also been plowing and treating state routes, including Navy Road.

Many have asked about salt. Salt is not effective below roughly 25 degrees and can be wasted without improving safety, which is why crews have focused on plowing and holding salt until temperatures rise.

We strongly encourage everyone to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Your consideration helps keep roads clear and calls down so that our Millington Police Department and Millington Fire Department teams can respond when needs arise.
