10:00 AM Update      

 

The City of Millington will be releasing regular updates and information on the City of Millington Municipal Government Facebook page and the city website at www.millingtontn.gov Citizens may call City Hall between 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM at 901-873-5701 or Millington Fire Administration between 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM at 901-873-5800 for specific questions or concerns. All requests for emergency assistance should dial 9-1-1.

 

Weather Update

A stalled-out surface boundary will be the focus for scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Mid-South through the 4th of July, mainly during the afternoon and evening each day across areas south of I-40. A cold front will bring a better potential for showers and thunderstorms to the area Wednesday night into Thursday. 

 

Emergency Declaration

Emergency declaration remains in effect. 

 

City Offices Closed

City offices will be closed for the 4th of July holiday and reopen at 8:00 AM Wednesday, July 5.

Non-emergency number 901-872-3333.  

 

City Parks

All city parks are closed for clean-up and to remove debris. Citizens are asked not to use parks during the 4th of July holiday. There are several large trees down and damage to playground equipment. 

 

Utilities

MLGW has restored a lot of the power that was lost due to last night’s weather. Crews continue to work in the area. Customers may not see workers in their neighborhood, but crews are working on areas of the system that bring power to the neighborhoods. As a reminder, customers with power restored may experience temporary interruptions in their electrical service as MLGW reroutes electrical power and make repairs on various circuits.  

 

Millington Water & Sewer Service

Millington water and sewer service have not been affected by the storm

 

Sanitation July 4th Schedule

  • Tuesday sanitation routes will be run on Wednesday July 5th
  • Wednesday sanitation routes will be run on Wednesday July 5th

 

 Sanitation & Discarded Food

Citizens who have lost food due to the power outage please follow these guidelines

  • Call City Hall weekdays 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM at 901-873-5701; weekends or 4th of July call 901-872-3333.
  • Advise city personnel you need a discarded food pick-up
  • Advise if you need an additional container for discarded food
  • Sanitation will provide pick-up for discarded food between the hours 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM 7 days per week
  • Place discarded food in plastic trash bags and put bags in your city issued trash container.
  • Due to weight restrictions of pick-up equipment please do not overfill container. Please fill container no more than half full. 
  • The City of Millington is not providing funds for the replacement of discarded food.  

 

Daytime Cooling Center 

The Daytime Cooling Center will remain open through the 4th of July holiday to provide a location for citizens without utilities to cool down and recharge electronic devices. Hours of operation for the Day Center on July 4th will be 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

 Debris Removal

Team Rubicon has been vetted by the City of Millington as a reputable service for residents who need assistance in removing trees and limbs from their property. If you need assistance in removing damaged trees, please call Team Rubicon at 469-967-4466.

 

The city’s contractor for debris removal will work until noon Monday, July 3rd and suspend operations until noon Wednesday, July 5th.   

 

Debris Removal Guidelines 

  • Place debris at the edge of the curb or your property line 
  • Do not place debris in the roadway.
  • Do not cover fire hydrants, water meter boxes, utility poles, parked vehicles or mailboxes. 
  • Do not put household trash or anything else except trees and limbs in your debris pile.
  • Crews will rotate through the city for debris pick-up 7 days per week.

 

Drivers, please use caution and drive slowly through areas where debris crews are working. 

 

SNAP Replacement Benefits

The City of Millington is not providing funds for food replacement or expenses related to storm damage. 

 Those who receive SNAP can apply for replacement benefits at 

TDHS Disaster Emergency Assistance (tn.gov)
