Millington Police Department INCREASES IMPAIRED-DRIVING ENFORCEMENT DURING HALLOWEEN
Millington, TN – Millington Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) for Booze It and Lose It from October 31 to November 1, 2018, surrounding Halloween. Booze it and Lose It is a statewide campaign to increase impaired-driving enforcement and reduce fatal crashes.
The Millington Police Department will be conducting safety checkpoints and increased patrols is an effort to remove impaired drivers from our roads and prevent accidents.
Millington Police Department Chief Mark Dunbar wants to remind everyone that even one alcoholic beverage could be one too many for some drivers, so if you plan to drive, plan to refrain from alcohol. If you plan to drink, be sure to arrange a sober ride home in advance. Stay safe on Halloween night, and every night.
Increased state and national messaging about the dangers of drunk driving, coupled with increased sobriety checkpoints and high visibility enforcement, aim to drastically reduce the number of drunk-driving crashes, injuries, and fatalities this year.
The consequences of a single DUI conviction for a first-time offender in the state of Tennessee may include costly fines, court costs, legal fees, jail time, mandatory drug and alcohol treatment, and/or the installation of an ignition interlock device in his/her vehicle.
The THSO provides grant funding to support Millington Police Department increased enforcement efforts during the Booze It and Lose It holiday campaign. For more information about the THSO, please visit www.tntrafficsafety.org.
