STREET BLOCK TO BE NAMED IN HONOR OF BISHOP ROGER CHRISTOPHER

MILLINGTON, TN (March 8, 2016) – The City of Millington will honor Bishop Roger Christopher by naming the corner of Greenhills and West Union Roads after the respected community leader on March 12 at noon. The public is invited to attend the naming ceremony hosted by Emmanuel the Word Church at the site at the Greenhills and West Union intersection. Born and raised in Millington, Christopher graduated from Woodstock High in 1964, served as President of his graduating class, attended Tennessee State University on a baseball scholarship and served his country in the Vietnam War. Christopher received his Bachelor’s Degree from International Seminary, his Master’s and Doctorate Degrees from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He is the Founder / Pastor of Emmanuel the Word Church, Founder / Presiding Bishop of Independent Fellowship International, Founder of LifeChangers Outreach, C0-Founder of VISION School of Biblical Training and has served as Chaplain for the Shelby County Commission.

Bishop Christopher has served the citizens of Millington not only as a spiritual leader but also as the 1st African American Mail Carrier with the United States Postal Service, a Shelby County School Bus Driver and President of the Woodstock Alumni Association. Bishop Christopher’s positive influence has been felt in the Millington community for decades as he has worked tirelessly to improve life for all mankind. The City of Millington is proud to be the home of Bishop Roger Christopher and honor his life’s work in this way.
