"Arts, Recreation and Parks is excited to offer this new program and provide the youth of Millington more recreational and social options," said Kate Armitage, Millington Arts, Recreation and Parks Director. "Dancing can enhance your life in a variety of ways. It improves your overall health, confidence, self-expression, social skills and its just plain fun. Physiologically, when you dance, your cardiovascular system improves, your muscle tone increases and you burn calories. This low-impact aerobic activity also increases flexibility, strength, and balance. In addition to the physical benefits of dancing, it is also a social activity. In a teen's world where much of their social interaction is conducted electronically, dance is the perfect setting to make new friends and branch out socially. Being socially engaged leads to increased happiness, reduced stress, and a stronger immune system.
The 1st JUST DANCE! dance night is tonight at the Baker Community Center. Admission on dance night is $5 for adults, $3 for kids 15 and under. Everyone is encouraged to bring a snack to share. For more information, call 901.873.5770. Come out and join the fun!
