The 100 Club of Memphis, a support organization established in 1956 to support Police and Fire Departments in Shelby County, recently selected Millington Police and Fire Departments to receive grants to fund equipment upgrades. Millington was one of many recipients throughout Shelby County to receive awards from the 100 Club of Memphis. The $2500 award to the Millington Fire Department enhances their ability to provide emergency medical care from a 1st Responder level to providing Basic Life Support services to people in the Millington area. This designation is accomplished by education, certification and equipment. "We are meeting all of those areas, but equipment is the most expensive. This award will allow the Millington Fire Department to replace old equipment with modern Automatic External Defibrillators, said Gary Graves, Millington Fire Chief.
The Millington Police Department will use their $2400 award to replace old bullet resistant vests with new, more modern ones. The motto of The 100 Club of Memphis is, "Everyday people supporting everyday heros." "Their support is very much appreciated," said Ray Douglas, Millington Police Chief.
