18th ANNUAL SRVS KIDS & FAMILIES PLANE PULL
MILLINGTON, TENNESSEE (OCTOBER 21) – The 18th Annual Plane Pull benefitting SRVS Kids & Families and children with disabilities will be held on Saturday, October 25, at the Millington Regional Jetport. FedEx is a proud supporter of the event which features a Plane Pull and fall festival. Gates open at 9:00 AM and the main plane pulling event starts at 10:00 AM.
The Plane Pull is a friendly competition to see how fast teams can pull a FedEx Boeing 757 aircraft weighing in at over 130,000lbs. Teams consist of 25 members and the team that pulls the plane twelve feet in the fastest time wins. Pull categories include Adult, Youth, Co-ed, Lightest Weight Pull and Team Spirit. The participation fee for Adult Teams is $1000 ($40 per person). The fee for Youth Teams is $500 ($20 per person). Participants must be a minimum age of 18 years old to participate on an Adult Team and a minimum age of 10 years old to participate on a Youth Team.
“This is an exciting milestone for SRVS as we become a part of this long-standing community event,” said Tyler Hampton, Executive Director of SRVS. “We sincerely appreciate the support and resources given to us to continue this unique event, and we thank our community partners including FedEx, the Millington Regional Jetport and the City of Millington.”
The day also includes a Fall Festival with free children’s activities including inflatables, face painting, carnival games, door prizes, fire truck and service vehicle tours, music and more. Soul Pig Catering Food Truck will be onsite with festival food available for purchase. Admission to the festival and parking are free.
SRVS Kids & Families (formerly Special Kids & Families) is now a program of SRVS which supports more than 1,000 people with disabilities through programs ranging from residential and employment services, to a learning center and elder care. Located at Independent Presbyterian Church, 4738 Walnut Grove Road, SRVS Kids & Families offers programs that enhance a family's knowledge and understanding of their child's unique developmental needs and abilities. The program provides in-home services to seventy-five children, forty in pre-school and up to ten per week in its Early On Parent and Child classes.
