FRANK TENNANT TO LEAD MILLINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
MILLINGTON, TENNESSEE (July 14, 2014) – Millington City leaders unanimously approved the appointment of Frank Tennant as the City’s new Chief of Police. Tennant, who currently serves as Police Chief and City Administrator in Hermann, Missouri, will assume the position as Millington’s top cop within the month. Tennant brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience at all operational and administrative levels to his new post in Millington, including over 20 years in a command capacity. For the past ten years, he has served as Hermann’s Police Chief in addition to Hermann’s City Administrator for the past two years. “In April of 2012, the Hermann Mayor asked that I take on the additional responsibilities of City Administrator in conjunction with the Chief of Police. For the last two years I have not only provided leadership and direction within the police department, I also have also managed full city operations including day to day operations of city services such as streets, parks, refuse and waste, administration and the city owned utilities of electric, gas, water and wastewater. As the City’s CEO I am responsible for preparation of the city budget which is presented and ratified by the elected board,” said Tennant.
Prior to his time in Hermann, Tennant served in the Owensboro, Kentucky Police Department from January 1982 to August 2002. The Owensboro Police Department is an urban police force with county wide jurisdiction serving a population of approximately 100,000. During his tenure in Owensboro, Tennant served in every rank from patrol officer to division commander with assignments in practically every operational and administrative area of the department. In late 2002, Tennant retired after 21 years of service in the Owensboro Police Department. “I am looking forward to having Chief Tennant join our team. His extensive law enforcement experience and training will be a great asset to the City of Millington Police Department,” said Chris Dorsey, Millington City Manager.
