MILLINGTON CREWS WORKING TO REMOVE STORM DEBRIS
MILLINGTON, TN (March 10, 2014) –The ice and snow have melted, but much of the aftermath of the winter storm that slammed the area on Sunday remains. Shelby County was declared in a state of emergency with the North part of the county hit the hardest by the winter weather. The newly annexed area of Lucy was the most severely affected part of Millington. City of Millington crews worked around the clock clearing roadways and power lines of downed trees and other hazards. Debris from fallen trees and limbs remains throughout the City.
The City of Millington is working to restore order as quickly as possible. Millington Public Works crews have enacted a systematic debris removal plan of action. Citizens are asked for their cooperation by placing brush and limbs at the curb. Please avoid placing the debris in the street, around mailboxes, next to utility poles, fire hydrants or storm drains. Limbs over 6ft in length will need to be cut into smaller segments before City removal. The burning of large piles of debris is prohibited.
The City of Millington thanks our citizens in advance for their assistance and patience as crews diligently work to restore our community to normal.
