MILLINGTON, TENNESSEE (January 27, 2014) When inclement weather hits most people can't wait for to finish their work day, make a quick stop by the grocery store and gas station before settling into their warm and cozy homes. That is when Millington's Public Works employees spring into action. When inclement weather affects the area, the work load of Public Works employees is greatly increased. The streets must be salted, water and sewer equipment must be closely monitored to ensure proper functionality and trash must still be collected. Bad weather complicates almost every aspect of the Public Works employees' job duties. Their work becomes more time consuming and the inherent risks are increased.
Recently, Interim City Manager, Michael Chesney publicly recognized these men at a Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting for the fine work they perform daily, and for their professionalism shown in serving the needs of the Millington community. "Millington is fortunate to have such dedicated public servants who continue to take care of the citizens without complaint. They keep our roads drivable, our water & sewer flowing and our trash collected even in the face of severe weather conditions. We certainly owe them a debt of gratitude," said Chesney.
