MILLINGTON SENIOR CITIZEN CLUB LEADERSHIP PASSES THE GAVEL

MILLINGTON, TENNESSEE (January 10, 2014) – New officers were installed recently at the Baker Community Center for the Millington Senior Citizen Club. Installed were Larry DuFrene, President; Eugene Leech, Vice President; Doris Veasey, Secretary; Polly McGee, Treasurer; Beverly Ripley, Membership Chairman; and Lonnie Nunn, Sergeant-at-Arms. The Millington Senior Citizen Club has been an active group in Millington for over 30 years. The purpose of the organization is to inspire unity, friendship and encouragement in the Millington community.
Mayor Terry Jones was present to officiate at the installation ceremony. “I am happy to be a part of the ceremony and swear in the new club officers. The Millington Senior Citizen Club is a vibrant, long-standing organization in our City. I am thankful for the dedication of those who have served the organization in the past and welcome the new leadership,” said Terry Jones, Millington Mayor.
Mrs. Edna Binger has faithfully served as President for the past 8 years. “My husband and I have been attending for the last 15 years. We really enjoy socializing with the seniors,” said Binger. “Now I am ready for a little rest and I think the club is in capable hands,” said Binger. The first order of business for new President, Larry DuFrene was the appointment of members to various key positions within the organization including the Trustee and the Correspondence Clerk. Various committee members were also approved to serve the organization.
The Millington Senior Citizen Club meets each Wednesday at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street in Millington from 10:00 AM - 12 PM. Each meeting of the organization includes a short business meeting, entertainment, social time and refreshments. Membership in the club is open to anyone 55 years of age and older. Newcomers are always welcome.
