Millington, Tennessee, the front porch of the Mid-South, is located approximately 13 miles north of Memphis in beautiful Shelby County. Millington stands apart from other cities around Memphis because it is surrounded by a green belt of crops, orchards and the Loosahatchie River. A natural buffer zone that lets you leave the hustle and bustle of the big city and come home to quiet neighborhoods where family values and community pride are the norm.
The City was incorporated in 1903 and the image most people remember is of a "Navy Town". Millington residents are proud of their past, but have embraced the need to realign and diversify the economy with other industry. Currently, the citizens refer to Millington as a patriotic city and the legislature of Tennessee agreed, designating Millington as "Flag City".
The largest employer is NSA Mid-South. Some other local businesses are Ingram Micro, Sparco, Hi-Speed Electric, Millington Telephone, Millington Cable, and Sandusky Cabinets.
Another one of Millington's assets include the Regional Jetport with the 3rd longest runway in the state of Tennessee and over 1,500 acres of fully developed prime industrial sites. Both residents and business owners are fortunate to have SR 385, Highway 51 and I-40 in our transportation corridor. The recent announcement that I-69 will be located west of Highway 51 will ensure our continued economic success.

The cost for improving Millington's drainage system and satisfying federal and state requirements for treating stormwater runoff have increased dramatically. Recognizing these increased demands, the City of Millington created the Millington Stormwater Utility to directly manage the projects, programs and services associated with the city's stormwater management system.
The stormwater fee will generate the revenue needed to meet new and existing stormwater requirements and to improve Millington's system, including our two levee's along with Big Creek, Bear Creek, Casper Creek, Jake's Creek, North Fork Creek and Royster Creek which feeds into the Loosahatchie River and eventually into the Mississippi River.
